Dear Readers
Welcome to February! Amazingly January has vanished in a haze of bad weather and requests for help from people who got smart devices for christmas. Therefore I have decided to write a little about our friend, Alexa (or computer, Echo or Ziggy depending on your setup). Did you know she can help with emergency CPR? If you say “Alexa, activate CPR” and she will ngive you some basic instructions.
Having a stressful day? Try “Alexa, Enable Mindful Meditation”. This will give you some options of meditation for 3, 4 5 or 20 minutes, each one slightly different.
“Alexa, Tell Me an Interesting Fact”. She is full of useful, but also random facts! In my case she informed me that “before becoming famous, Quinten Tarantino played an Elvis look a like”
“Alexa, Play Rock, Paper, Scissors” if you are bored, just play a few rounds against her. It’s silly, but quite entertaining.
“Alexa, I love you”. She loves this. Sings you a lovely little ditty! Very entertaining.
“Alexa, what are you deals?”. She can list the top 10 deals on Amazon right now. Prices, delivery dates and savings.
“Alexa, knock, knock” and she will read off a random knock knock joke. Not her best skill, but the kids love this one!
“Alexa, play Skyrim,” is an extremely interesting AI story app. You fill in the blanks of the storey, and depending on your answers, will depend on the next part of the story. Craft your own story and fulfil your destiny.
“Alexa, can you rap?” or “Alexa, can you beatbox?“ Its worth an ask. She can real off a few unusual notes. Someone has too much time on their hands!
“Alexa, send a hug”. Assuming you have your favourite AI linked to your contacts, you can send a virtual hug to someone in your contact list.
“Alexa, start 7 minute work out”. Getting fit? Or trying? This may be something useful for everyone. Answer some questions to set her up, and away you go. 3 modes, Low impact, medium or advanced. Even choose you style of music to work with.
If you have any specific Alexa questions or functions/commands that you use that we all should know about, send them through!
