This month I am going to take a look at some iPhone hacks that might make your life a little easier.
Safari. Gone are the days where Safari was the only browser on your phone or iPad. I use Chrome for everything, so Safari is useless for me. Settings > Safari > Default Browser App > Pick the one you want!
Mail. Until recently you had to use the Mail app that came with iDevices to send emails. That has finished. You can now use your chosen mail app. For me its Gmail. It allows my default signature automatically and keeps things nice and in one box! Settings > Safari > Default Browser App > Pick the one you want! (Some models this does not work!)
Add widgets to your home screen. Want to see the weather? No problem. Swipe left from the home screen. Edit > scroll down > Customise > + symbol top right. Select the one you want and away you go.
Shortcut text. I use this alot! So now, when I type br into almost any box on a webpage, my full email address comes up. It can be programmed for almost any word. Settings > General > Keyboard > Test Replacement > +. Once here program your shortcuts.
Fed up of Siri pronouncing things wrong? When she says something wrong, response with âThats now how you pronounce âŚ..whatever was wrongâ and Siri will ask you how it needs to sound.
Worried about how much data Apple carries about you? Take a look at Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Frequent Locations. It will show loads of information on where you have been and when they use your location.
Made a mistake or removed some test? Shake your phone and it will ask you to undo whatever you did!
The most important one, for anyone, is the medical ID information. If there is an emergency and you need to find out some medication information of the phones owner, Press the home screen when the phone is locked. At the bottom, Emergency, and then Medical ID. It shows a lot of information that may help in an accident etc. If you want to set this up, you can do it through Settings > Emergency SOS (add emergency contacts here). For setup of Medical ID go to Settings > Health > Medical ID. Make sure Show when locked is enabled if you want this.
